CropDesign is a biotech company with a proven track record in plant phenotyping. It combines a unique automated smart greenhouse designed for deep and high-throughput phenotyping of various plant species with automated state-of-the-art data acquisition technologies and advanced statistical and computational analysis. The greenhouse allows evaluation of different plant growth regimes, as well as screening of chemicals or biologicals.
Over more than 15 years CropDesign has built a strong expertise in molecular analysis of plant growth through its TraitMill platform, a set of technically advanced high-throughput processes for gene identification, plant engineering, and for detailed phenotypic analysis of plants. This resulted in the creation of a high value functional genomic knowledge database for plant yield traits.
Combined with the company’s know-how in automated plant treatment and screening, imaging and data processing, CropDesign can provide solutions for various agronomic problems.
CropDesign was founded in 1998 as a spin-off from the VIB (Flanders Institute for Biotechnology) and Ghent University, and is part of BASF Plant Science.
