Christel Brion specialises in intellectual property and regulatory affairs. She counsels large companies as well as start-ups, SMEs, universities and research institutes active in various innovative fields, in particular the life sciences and healthcare sectors (including bio-pharma, med tech, diagnostics, IT specialists).

 

She regularly advises on, drafts and negotiates a wide range of agreements and related documents, such as NDAs, MTAs, scientific research collaboration, research service, licensing, technology transfer, clinical trials/studies, distribution, supply and manufacturing agreements, general terms and conditions (for both sale and purchase), agreements with IT service providers, HCPs/HCOs/patient organisations, etc.  

 

Christel is in frequent contact with the public health authorities and industry bodies and advises on and litigates cases involving a wide range of regulatory and related issues, such as borderline products, clinical studies, (early) market access, off-label use, distribution, advertising and promotion compliance, mobile health, patient support programs, pharmaco- and materiovigilance, product liability claims, parallel import and cross-border healthcare.

 

She has particular expertise in patent litigation, including assisting innovative companies with the development of life-cycle management strategies and the defence of their intellectual property rights (in particular patents and SPCs). In addition to her advisory and litigation practice, Christel is regularly involved in due diligence (in the framework of mergers, acquisitions and IPOs).

 

Christel is a member of Licensing Executives Society (LES) International, Young European Patent Lawyers (EPLAW), the Belgian Regulatory Affairs Society (BRAS), and the Institute for Pharmaceutical Business Administration. She frequently speaks on legal topics in the healthcare sector and is an active member of NautaDutilh's multidisciplinary Life Sciences Team.

 

Christel received her law degree magna cum laude from the University of Brussels (ULB) in 2003 and obtained a post-graduate degree in international business law magna cum laude from that same university the following year.

 

She joined NautaDutilh in 2004. Christel is a member of the Brussels bar and is fluent in English, French and Dutch.
