Niels Bessemans PhD, is founder and CEO of Optiflux NV (Houthalen-Helchteren, Belgium), an AgTech start-up company that supports fruit growers, cooperatives and traders to optimally store and commercialize their fresh products all year round in an organic and energy-saving manner. To this extent, Optiflux uses an hardware enabled SaaS platform powered by AI.
Prior to founding Optiflux, Niels obtained a PhD in bioscience engineering from KU Leuven entitled “Dynamic controlled atmosphere storage of pome fruit”. In 2022, he won the prestigious L(euven) Da Vinci Award, for successful transforming his PhD results into the products and services of Optiflux and bringing them the the market.
